New Horizons pick up Cannes favorites: Carax, Mungiu and Reygadas

Marina Abramović: The Artist Is Present is also a new distribution title for the festival's independent label.

New Horizons Association, the organizer of the T-Mobile New Horizons IFF and American FF in Wrocław has picked up the Polish rights for some of the most praised Cannes titles: Holy Motors by Leos Carax, Post Tenebras Lux by Carlos Reygadas and După dealuri (Beyond the Hills) by Cristian Mungiu.

All three titles will have their Polish premieres at the 12. T-Mobile New Horizons IFF in Wrocław (19-29 July 2012) and then they will be distributed in cinemas throughout Poland. The organizers of the New Horizons IFF have been following the careers of these filmmakers closely in previous years and they are well-known to the New Horizons' audience. Carlos Reygadas will have his retrospective at the upcoming edition of the festival.

Recently, New Horizons have also taken Polish rights for the Berlinale Audience Award-winner Marina Abramović: The Artist Is Present. The doc by Matthew Akers will be one of the special events of the 12. T-Mobile New Horizons IFF in Wrocław (19-29 July 2012).

The distribution arm of the New Horizons was launched in 2009 and has distributed 22 films to date including Wim Wenders' Pina. The 50.000 admissions release of this creative 3D documentary was recently recognized by the Polish Film Institute as Best Distribution Campaign Of A Foreign Film In Poland.
