Film description

Mother and daughter, boy and girl, a ghost and the eternally majestic Mekong River, the border between Thailand and Laos, are the players in love of the romantic and parental variety, the meanders of our relationships to ourselves, others, the world, and nature in this film by Apichatpong Weerasethakul. Fantasy blends with reality, death with life, gravity with humor to form an intimate and hypnotic film experienced with all five senses, where simple but magical images are supported by a unique soundtrack. Edited in part from the director’s prior unfinished project, Mekong Hotel is a journey to the rhythm and tone of the flowing water with its eternal murmur and imbued mystery of life.
