Louise is an adult, but looks not much older then the boy. Are they siblings? Perhaps. They live in a cramped apartment beside a ski resort in the Swiss Alps. The majestic mountains are capped with pristine snow, but down below is nothing but cold mud. Louise leads a licentious existence, while young Simon keeps things in order. At one point, she comes home so drunk that he has to help her undress and lie down – after which he sets off for the resort, where he pilfers ski equipment and pawns it off to put some food on the table. Director Ursula Meier’s film sets out as a social drama, but turns into something more intimate after a long-kept secret comes to light. Can truth once revealed be forgotten?
