A special festival guest: Natalia Rolleczek, ‘Natalia of the Rosary’

Screening at 13:00 (Helios 6) in the Documentaries / Essays section will be Natalia of the Rosary directed by Sławomir Rogowski and Stanisław Zawiśliński. The film tells the story of Natalia Rolleczek, 93 years of age today, the author of the controversial book ‘The Wooden Rosary’, first published in 1953.

Natalia Rolleczek was a colorful literary personality in communist Poland. Her notorious, autobiographical novel was picked up as an anti-church propaganda tool by the communist authorities and was later brought to screen by directing couple Ewa and Czesław Petelski. Natalia of the Rosary portrays the controversial writer – a woman of faith, a friend of the late Karol Wojtyła, but also the object of much criticism for the life she led in the former political realities.

Following the film will be a meeting with the directors and the writer herself.
