Mexican Cinema – here we go!

This year’s festival moves to the rhythms of Mexican cinematography. Festivalgoers can take in 16 productions from recent years, including films by Amat Escalante (Blood, The Bastards), Nicolás Pereda (Perpetuum Mobile, Summer of Goliath), Matías Meyer (The Last Christeros), Michel Lipkes (Misadventure) and Daniela Schneider (Ceased). These filmmakers’ individual styles have shaped conceptions of today’s Mexican cinema, which is currently among the world’s most vibrant national film movements, some of whose most prominent creators will be guests at this year’s festival. Encounters with the filmmakers will begin today, when director/writer duo, brothers Amat and Martín Escalante, meet the audience following the screening of The Bastards (HEL 7, 13:15); later, director Amat Escalante will meet the audience after the screening of Revolution (HEL 7, 16.15) as will Daniela Schneider following her Ceased (HEL5, 22:00).
